Wolstenbury Hill

Target: £2,000.00/ Pledged: £2,006.07

MSABG ask local riders to contribute towards a fund which will 'seed' the finance needed to repair the access tracks from Danny/New Way Lane  to Wolstenbury Hill.

We need to raise at least £2,000 in order that other sources of funding can see that we are serious in our need for these tracks to be repaired.

Contributions from riders so far range from £5,  the cost of a set of shoes (think how much less wear there will be if you don't have to ride the lane so much!), some very generous pledges of £100 and one of £250!!!! Please contribute just as much as you feel able - every bit helps to swell the coffers! Details will be confidential.

Thank you for helping us put our money where our mouth is!

Update, June 2008:  Funding has been made available by SDJC and WSCC to the tune of £8,000 towards these works  If we can raise our £2,000 it looks as though the cumulative £10,000 should allow at least some of the needed works to go ahead. If we can raise more then while the contractors are on site.......!

Come on - get those pledges in!

Update, September 2008:    The South Downs Joint Committee (who are in charge of getting the works done)  report that the specifiations are still with Natural England. NE have to appprove the spec as the path is on land that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). They are trying to get response in order that the works go ahead before the winter.

Update, Jan 2009:     The tenders, quotes, access issues and materials storage have been sorted. SDJC are determined to get this path done in this financial year if they posssibly can.

NB we have not yet quite reached MSABG's contribution  target of £2,000. The works depend on us doing so - please encourage all the users you know to contribute even just the tiniest amount - it all helps us to get there!

Update 6th March: SDJC report that contractor's quotes have come in far above estimate - sufficient increased money is not available at this late stage in the financial year! SDJC will talk with WSCC to see what can be done early in 2009 financial year!

Update 22nd April 2009: today we recieved out of the blue the official closure notice for the paths that are needed to do the works!!! HURSTPIERPOINT AND PYCOMBE: Public Bridleway No's 81Hu, 9aPy, 12aPy, 24Py (PART) - Temporary Closure Notice
