Wapple Way, Westmeston - Surface Repairs

Target: £2,000.00/ Pledged: £1,671.00

Urgent surface repairs are needed for  Wapple Way Bridleway (Westmeston BW No. 20) which runs from Westmeston to Streat  through woodland and rural Sussex countryside.

Surface repairs here have been on ESCC’s ‘To Do List’ for a long time, awaiting funding. We hope that a contribution from local users, collected by Mid Sussex Area Bridleways Group, will help move these works forward?

Works such as these cost many thousands of pounds!!
Some local riders are contemplating various ways of raising additional funds but MSABG would like to collect donations from the actual users of the path, who will of course most benefit from the works.
Could we, I wonder reach the £2,000 that we collected recently for a path on Wolstenbury Hill? Could we even collect more?
Please give just as much as you feel able. Many small donations soon add up!
Pledge your amount here and we will contact you when the works are to be done.

This path is such an important link to the newly surfaced Jubilee Path
Some of you will have contributed to this too!
We appologise if we are asking you again but self help DOES get things done! Thank you

Thank You
UPDATE 6th January 2009 - It will soon be time for ESCC to decide which paths are to receive surface works this year. Can we make our £2,000 target to show them just how much this path should be 'the one to do'. 24 people have pledged the £1,250 to date; aren't there more riders out there who would like to see this path repaired?. PLEDGE NOW !!! Every little counts!
Update 12th January 2009 - We have secured a small grant of £1,000 towards the works and are exploring other sources. We now know that a patch-up job would cost around £7,000 and the 'full monty' £22,000. Don't faint - we do not expect large amounts from users of the path BUT we do need numbers - if we can show how many people are actually using this path from our list of pledgees(is there such a word?) it adds weight to the argument for need of repair. So pledge just a few pounds to add to our 'number of users'  total. Others have!
Update 20th January 2009 - A DISCO to raise funds will be held at Wivelsfield Village Hall on March 14th - Tickets £10 (inc supper). Raffle and Auction.
Tickets available from: HorseStyle, Middleton Common Farm, Middleton Common Lane,
Ditchling Common, Hassocks, East Sussex BN6 8SF
Tel. 01273 891221 / 01273 891644 / 07715 721504
Update 4th April 2009 - The Disco raised a magnificant £820 for MSABG towards our ever increasing total. Well done 'the gang'!
Update 22nd April 2009 - Wapple Way has been put forward as East Sussex (Western Area)’s top priority path to be re-surfaced from the forthcoming budget. Their planned works are for full re-surfacing, not just repair works. As yet ESCC cannot confirm for sure whether the works will be carried out this financial year.  We remain hopeful and remain in money raising mode. ‘The Gang’ are now planning a stall (probably selling strawberries and cream – next to the PIMMS stall!) at the Wivelsfield Village Day Sat 18th July.
Update 11th May 2009 - ESCC confirm that THE SURFACE WORKS WILL BE DONE THIS FINANCIAL YEAR! You will be advised just as soon as we know the date!
Update 8th June 2009  OUR FUND RAISING NOW STANDS AT £3,970 including all your donations plus grants and donations procured from local organisations and businesses.
